Dennis Durrwachter -  Anchorage, Alaska. -- July 5,2006 -- Dennis Durrwachter, a disabled Air Force veteran from St. Peters, Mo., is competing in the 26th National Veterans Wheelchair Games, being held through July 8 in Anchorage, Alaska. With more than 550 athletes from 46 states, Puerto Rico and Great Britain, this is the largest annual wheelchair sports event in the world.

Su Lin Durrwachter - Baton Rouge, Louisiana Nightingale Awards January 20, 2007

On Saturday, January 20th, the Louisiana Nurses Foundation hosted its sixth Annual Nightingale Awards Program. The event attracted nearly 450 attendees, with over 85 Registered Nurse nominees representing a variety of healthcare institutions and schools of nursing across the state.

The Nightingale Awards ceremony is a time when the healthcare industry honors its own. The program is the “academy awards” of quality service, commitment, and excellence for Registered Nurses in the state of Louisiana.

Nightingale Awards were presented to the following recipients:

1. Nurse of the Year, Beth Fife, Louisiana Tech University, Division of Nursing;

2. Nursing Educator of the Year, Su Durrwachter, Baton Rouge General School of Nursing;

3. Clinical Practice Nurse of the Year, Jessie Bowman, Baton Rouge General Medical Center;
4. Advanced Practice Nurse of the Year, Lucie Agosta, Woman’s Hospital;
5. Nursing Administrator of the Year, Wanda Hughes, Baton Rouge General Medical Center;
6. Mentor of the Year, [a tie vote.]
Norlyn Hyde, Louisiana Tech University, Division of Nursing and
Ruth Ann Moore, CHRISTUS Schumpert Health System.
